MEGILL OHANA

Founders

This Sejal & her husband Joseph and their 3 kids that are here on earth, Téa, Taj & Ari. They lost their daughter Mali Bella when she was just a baby. It was the most debilitating time of their lives, and they didn't know how they were going to survive. Luckily, Sejal met other mothers who were going through the same thing and having someone who knew how she felt was very comforting. They shared their stories, tears and strength. Sejal noticed there was lack of support specifically or parents who had lost a child and turning her pain into purpose, Mali Bella Foundation arose. The foundations mission is to provide hope, healing and support to bereaved families. Sejal continues to love & honor her daughter Mali and hopes to be able to help others to do the same.

LAINE HAMAmura

Admin Volunteer

Laine Hamamura lives in Kalihi on the island of Oahu with her husband and four sons. She was connected to the Mali Bella Foundation through a friend who shared about a craft event and just fell in love with the safe, supportive community that Mali Bella Foundation provides. Laine was pregnant with her first and only daughter and gave birth to her at only 16 weeks, stillborn. This community has been such an integral part of her healing process and she wants to give back by helping with some administrative support to Sejal and the team.

Laura Labelle

Siblings Grief Leader

Laura LaBelle lives in San Diego, California with her husband and two daughters. She found the Mali Bella Foundation through a chance meeting with Sejal, and offers support by running the sibling grief group. Laura has a background in K12 education, and end of life care. Some of her passions include being a birth and bereavement doula, teaching courses on holding space for losses, and working to make conversations about death more approachable to all. Laura has three babies lost at varying stages of pregnancy, and finds loving support in the community created at the Mali Bella Foundation.
